pervade

Reading a book of short stories by Saul Bellow recently, I came across the following use of 'pervade': "But in this deserted beauty man himself still lives as a God-pervaded being." A useful alternative to words such as 'imbue', 'fill', etc. (Saul Bellow, Him with his foot in his mouth and other stories, Penguin Books, Harmondsworth, 1986, people 58/59).
